Shop Staff

Hey there! 🎉 Join our awesome team and be part of something sweet! As a shop staff member, you'll be the friendly face that greets and serves our wonderful customers. Following our delicious treat guidelines, providing top-notch customer service, and keeping everything spick and span are all part of the fun. Plus, you'll get to whip up some tasty treats and ensure everyone leaves with an A-plus experience!

No worries if it's your first job, as long as you've got a knack for basic math, cleaning, and communication, you're good to go. Our shifts are flexible, with evenings and weekends spanning 4 to 8 hours of sugary goodness. We're looking for folks who are eager to learn, can take direction with a smile, and aren't afraid to roll up their sleeves and work hard.

The vision of owning a small local business has been in my mind for over 35 years.What it was I didn’t know until a few years ago. After 20+ years in the creative marketing industry the spark was gone. I was miserable. I wanted to make people happy and there is only 1 thing in this world that brings happiness to EVERYONE….ICE CREAM!!! In 2017 the vision began to build.

After 3 years of developing a brand, look, feel, product and place Tasty Toucan opened their doors on October, 18 2020. Yes you read that correctly I opened an Ice cream shop during a pandemic headed into the winter. That is how much I wanted to bring happiness to people. If there was something that people needed in 2020 it was happiness!

From the moment you approach the door you feel happy. Walk in and it’s hard not to smile. A colorful beachy tropical vibe is fun and relaxing. We keep things exciting with simple (put your phone down and talk) games like connect four, jena, chess, and tic tac toe. Our photo op spot changes at least every 3 months, to capture that smile and memorable moment.

There is nothing worse than to go out for ice cream and have the flavor be blah and icey. If the environment and people at Tasty Toucan don’t make you happy the flavor will. We experiment, test and research what goes into our products until we find the best flavor. Our chocolate chip cookie sandwiches feature scratch made cookies from the local bakery (Peace of Cake). Our award winning Paletas (popsicle) are made with whole fruit and fresh fruit juices. Seriously you just have to try it to experience the flavor. 

And one more thing, we love parties! Especially one with ice cream! That’s why we also offer catering services. To bring you and your guests a good time and amazing dessert!

2023 Paleta (popsicle) Champion

Nikki Neboshynsky, Owner and Chief Tasty Officer at Tasty Toucan is overjoyed with the news she has won the 2023 Paleta Competition.

[Stevensville, MD] - Kent Island's Tasty Toucan emerged victorious at The North American Ice Cream Association (NAICA) 2023 Paleta Competition at their annual convention in Las Vegas.

The North American Ice Cream Association, a dedicated trade organization committed to advancing the frozen dessert industry, annually recognizes outstanding contributions and innovation. Tasty Toucan seized the title of Paleta Champion, solidifying their place as an example of excellence in the frozen dessert industry.

For those unfamiliar with the term, a Paleta is a Mexican-origin frozen treat, similar to a popsicle, that has gained popularity in the United States. Unlike traditional popsicles, paletas are crafted from fresh fruits, chocolate, or cream. The distinguishing factor lies in their use of natural ingredients and creative flavor combinations, offering a more authentic and artisanal experience.

The six artisan Paleta competitors had two hours to make their best strawberry and chocolate popsicle/Paleta. Nikki Neboshynsky, owner and chief tasty officer of Tasty Toucan, Stevensville, MD whirred and stirred her best recipes before the judges. Her final submissions were Summer Tango and ‘This the season. The judges analyzed every pop/paleta for taste, uniqueness, presentation and appeal to the market.

The winning Paleta's. Summer Tango; Strawberry and Mango dipped in Tajin. 'Tis the Season; Chocolate peppermint fudge sprinkled with crushed candy canes.

The Summer Tango is a delightful blend of whole strawberries, fresh-squeezed lemon juice, twisted with layers of mango, dipped in Tajin. On the other hand, the ‘Tis the Season features chocolate fudge infused with natural peppermint extract and adorned with shimmering candy cane pieces. Neboshynky's entries are a true standout, earning unanimous praise from the judges for its unique flavor profile, exceptional texture, and eye-catching presentation.

"We are thrilled to recognize Tasty Toucan and Nikki Neboshynsky as the Paleta Champion of 2023," stated Evan Waldt, Board member of NAICA. "Their Paleta not only demonstrated exceptional craftsmanship but also highlighted the innovative spirit that drives our industry. It's an honor to celebrate their talents and dedication to the craft."

Nikki Neboshynsky shared her excitement about the win, saying, "Tasty Toucan's goal has always been to deliver sweet frozen treats with incredible flavor from natural ingredients, this competition was the perfect platform to showcase that.
